The 2007 Rallye Burnie is based on the North West Coast of Tasmania on September 22-23. The competition covers spectacular mountain and valley areas within a 100km radius of the City.

Despite placing second for most of the event, Grant Denyer's Rallye Burnie came to abrupt end late Sunday morning. Denyer and Jim Richards 'ham it up' at Burnie's Fernglade shakedown on Friday. Ian Raper and Steve Ruston in their 1980 Porsche 928S after refuelling in Waratah on Sunday (Day 2).

The racing action starts Saturday, September 22 with stages at Wandle Valley, Hellyer Gorge, Oldina, Waratah and Luina. Official specatator points will be set up at the bottom of Hellyer Gorge where the field will pass by twice on Saturday and again on Sunday and also at Waratah where a spectacular street stage will be held - also on both days.

RICHARDS SETS EARLY PACE
Richard's Porsche GT3 set the fastest time on three of the five stages contested. Denyer won the opening stage this morning in his Les Walkden Rallying-prepared Subaru Impreza WRX STI, while Tony Quinn, in a Mitsubishi Lancer, set the fastest time in the 700 metre sprint around the streets of Waratah. >>>READ MORE

Two-time Rallye Burnie winner, Jim Richards, believes weather may play a big part in determining the winner of the event this weekend.
Richards, who will compete in a two-wheel drive Porsche GT3 RS, faces the challenge for the title from a host of four-wheel-drive Subarus and Mitsubishis. >>>READ MORE
